Orientation Registration
What do I do if I lost my password or never received my Orientation invitation?
If you know your university username, you can regenerate your ULink password online. If you do not know your university username, please call our office at 337-482-1391 so we can provide you that information and you can then regenerate your ULink password online.
Why are you required to pay your Orientation fee at the time of registration?
Space in each Orientation session is limited. Paying your Orientation fee secures your reservation. Students who fail to pay online at the time of registration will be dropped from a session so space can be made for other students.
Is there a waiting list for sessions?
We do not have a waiting list for sessions. If a session is full, students should register for their second choice session. You can log-in and check Orientation availability at any time. Your Orientation fee will be transferred to the new session.
Is the Orientation fee refundable?
No, once paid the Orientation fee is non-refundable. Students should ensure they are planning on enrolling at UL, or that they meet admissions requirements before registering.
Can I transfer my Orientation fee between semesters?
No. Students who register for one semester Orientation and do not enroll will need to pay for another Orientation.
Testing
I am taking the National AP test. Will I earn college credit at UL Lafayette? Do I need to take the UL Advance Credit Exams?
Students earning a 3 or higher on the National AP exam earn course credit at UL Lafayette. Students who earn credit through the National AP exam do not need to take UL Lafayette's Advance Credit Exams, but but do so as an additional opportunity to earn credit.
If I can't attend Early Orientation & ACE, can I still earn credit through Advance Credit Exams?
Yes. Advance Credit Exams are offered prior to the start of Summer Session and Fall semester. Students who earn credit during this time can adjust their schedule.
Course Advising & Major Selection
When will I schedule my classes?
Freshman Students: All students will meet with an academic advisor in their academic area during Orientation. Course registration occurs during the Orientation program.
Transfer Students: Transfer Students can meet with their academic advisor prior to Orientation and will be cleared to register for classes, or can meet with their academic advisor during Orientation.
How can I change my major?
You can change your major online during Orientation registration, or during Orientation check-in. Students should make sure their major is correct since academic advising and course placement are based heavily on a students major selection.
What if I'm unsure what to major in?
Many students start at UL Lafayette without a declared major. If you are undecided, you will be classified as Liberal Arts Undeclared and will start off taking courses that apply to any degree plan (University CORE Curriculum).
Can my parents come to academic advising with me?
No. While we value the input of parents in coaching students through their academic career, parents are not allowed in the academic advising sessions or computer labs for registration. Our academic advising staff is trained to answer all your questions regarding course registration and placement.
