Important Camper Information

  • Hey Fellow SOUL Mates,

Camp is just a few short weeks away and we are really excited to meet you. This experience is going to be like no other and is the perfect way to start your college journey as a Ragin’ Cajun. Our staff has been working around the clock to make this year’s camp stellar and we are really looking forward to meeting you all.

With all of this in mind, we want to make sure you come prepared. Please read everything carefully, because there is much important information included to make sure you have the best camp experience. To the right is a detailed packing list of all things you will need at camp, as well as University Medical Release Form that will need to be printed, filled out, and will be turned into us at check-in.

    Early Move-In for Campers

The SOUL Camp staff along with the University Housing Department is offering an early move-in option for all campers who will be living in either the male or female residence halls or Legacy Park. You’ll be able to move into your room on the morning of August 12th (the first day of camp).  Students can pick up their keys for their hall or apartment at Baker-Huger Residence Hall beginning at 8AM.  You will have until 11AM to move in (which is the start of camp).  For all of those taking advantage of this option, there will plenty of time to move in prior to the start of camp.

Also, for the convenience of out of state campers we will be able to provide move-in options on August 11th. Those interested in this should contact Paul Eaton at peaton@louisiana.edu or 337-851-1391.

    Camper Parking

Upon arriving, campers should park their vehicles in Lot 22G ONLY.  Lot 22G is located on Taft St. between University Ave. & E. St. Mary Blvd. The lot will be monitored by University Police over the weekend. Please do not park anywhere else on campus.

    Camp Check-In

Camper check-in will begin promptly at 9 AM on Thursday, August 12th and will continue until 11 AM. Campers should report to the Baker-Huger Residence Halls for check-in where you will meet our staff and receive important camp materials. Be sure to bring items for your overnight stay even if you moved into your room. All campers will be staying at Baker-Huger Residence Hall the evening of August 12, 2010.

    Camp Extras

Campers may wish to bring a few extra dollars for certain camp extras. While at Tall Timbers Camp Site, campers will have the opportunity to participate in a fun and original game of Bazooka Ball. However, if you wish to participate there will be a very small fee that the Tall Timbers Staff will require. Also, there will be opportunities for campers to purchase drinks and snacks from vending machines during camp.

    Swap Yo’ Swag

As you may have noticed from the Camp Schedule, we will all be participating in a fun activity that will allow everyone to get to know where everyone else is from. Please bring any high school memorabilia (preferably T-shirts) that you would not mind trading with other campers. This is a fun and interactive activity that we would not want you to miss out on.
